America 250 Wonky Houses Banner
#FabricConfetti, Create Background Quilting, Stitch Room, 6 Apr 26

It’s Monday in the Stitchuation Room, and there is stitchin’ to be done! Becky dives into the America 250 Wonky Houses Embroidery Banner project. It’s a three-panel wall hanging which will be a fantastic home decoration for years to come. Are you stitching along with Becky? The pattern is from Fabric Confetti. Two Chicks Quilting has a fabulous kit!

Becky uses a chart to keep track of fabric sizes for each house (15:20) and strongly encourages us to read the instructions carefully to distinguish between the finished size and the cut size!

Becky uses SF101 on her background fabric and fuses it to fusible fleece to give the blocks structure (20:30). She’s using a ScanNCut, and the house, roof, and window pieces fit perfectly within the placement lines (30:58). If you don’t have ScanNCut envy yet, you will soon! Here, Becky prepares the pieces to be cut.

Becky used Embrilliance Stitch Artist to create a custom cross-hatch background fill (34:30). This is a professional, quilted finish. Beautiful.

If you haven’t started yet, get your kits ready, you are not too late!

Happy stitching, happy viewing!

Stitch America 250 Wonky House 2,
#FabricConfetti, Stitch Room, 4/7/26

Welcome to the Stitchuation Room! Becky’s on the road and we get to go with her! Sort of, anyway! Becky is working on ‘House Number 2’ from the America 250 collection (4:04). Grab a kit because they are getting low on inventory.

Becky demonstrates a classic, reliable method for centering fabric in a hoop using a grid template (13:11). Invaluable! It took me months to figure out what those things were. Becky explains it SEW well!

She loves that Hot Fix adhesive for perfect applique cuts and stable stitching! (28:25, 36:00).

Whether you are a seasoned embroiderer or just starting, Becky’s infectious enthusiasm and practical tips make this video a must-watch!

Stitch the Shoefly Blocks on the
#CelebratingAmericaQAL, the Stitchuation Rm, 8 Apr 26

It’s a great day to quilt! Today Becky is working on the America 250 quilt and enjoying the satisfaction of nested seams and seeing the Shoefly block come together perfectly (56:32). The pattern is from Celebrate Quilts Pattern book for the America 250 Quilt by the FQS . The original blog post for the schedule & fabric selection is here.

What’s a quilter to do when the rotary cutter is left behind? Becky tells us about the ‘scandal!’

Ginger scissors and a quarter-inch seam guide came to the rescue to cut the pieces for the Shoefly block.

Becky demonstrated block-squaring with a square ruler, It’s the old-school, but it works! (40:26)

She aligns the edge of the ruler to the required size—in this case, 1.5 inches—making sure the 45-degree line is maintained for accuracy while she marks the cutting lines with a pencil (40:36).

Becky places the 45-degree line on her ruler directly onto the seam of the block to ensure it is perfectly straight. (31:32)

After sewing, she uses her scissors to trim the excess fabric. (42:27).

This method is more arduous than using modern tools, but a great skill for our ‘toolbox.” Before quilters had specialized rulers and rotary cutters, this is how it was done.(46:16)

Sew with Me! Show & Tell Quilt, Stitch the Bunny Churn Dash Quilt Block

Becky announces another exciting upcoming quilt-along, the Elizabeth Hartman Show & Tell Quilt (28:56). This kit includes the Show & Tell pattern by Elizabeth Hartman and Elizabeth’s Favorites Bella Solids fabrics. The kit has all of the fabric for the quilt top already labeled), Show & Tell Pattern, and binding.

Here’s the block Becky is currently working on for her Elizabeth Hartman Show & Tell Quilt. The kit has all of the fabric for the quilt top already labeled), Show & Tell Pattern, and binding.

Becky is making the four-block quilt, but other sizes are all explained in the pattern directions.

Becky has her pieces organized, ready to go!

Because she’s traveling, she realized too late that her notions bag had grown legs and did its own traveling, right back into her sewing room. But Becky’s service training taught her to “Adapt and improvise”(be flexible and resourceful to creatively overcome obstacles and succeed despite unexpected challenges.SO! She demonstrates the old school way of making the diagonal lines and sewing just inside the lines. The red line is added by me, just to help you see the sewn line better.

Once they are all sewn, Becky irons to the dark side.

Becky shows us step by step how to settle in and do some quilting like Grandma used to, and things come our just fine!

Friday, Introducing the Elevated Embroidery Experience by
#AmySews, the Stitchuation Room, 4/10/26

What a treat Becky has in store for us today! Amy from #AmySews is her special guest! Amy introduced a new educational venture: the Elevated Embroidery Experience.

The Elevated Embroidery Experience is a monthly digital subscription (14:48), designed to push embroiderers beyond basic projects. This program focuses on advanced techniques and creative experimentation, including:

Learning how to use unique materials for appliques (9:03).

Utilizing wing needles (9:14), twin needle embroidery (10:43), and more to create heirloom-style textures in the hoop. WOW, this is all new to me, can’t wait!

 Projects like welt pockets (12:11)

She will also show tin-punch embroidery for home decor and adding rhinestones to projects!

The subscription is priced at $24.95 per month includes digital files, pre-recorded, disruption-free tutorials, and live Q&A sessions for ongoing support (14:54). The link is below. Browse her fantastic site! The classes are pre-recorded, but Amy will also do live Q and A sessions too. I admire Becky for the ways she supports innovators such as Amy in this vibrant sewing community, don’t you? And I am excited about the opportunity Amy offers to bring my skills to the next level.

Becky shared her progress on this adorable America 250 Wonky Houses wall banner by Fabric Confetti (25:08). Oh, my goodness, that barbeque makes me smile. It is just such a clever detail, and SO Americana! (25:34).

Here’s one of the panels. This font is so appealing!

Becky also reviews how to use a grid to center your design. I think I can finally pull those grids out and use them!

Spending time watching Becky talk with Amy, watching her sew in a small space, it’s all so good, so heartwarming. Watch, enjoy, and please click like. And let me know, will you be signing up for Amy’s classes? I am!
