Week in Review 2/23-2/27/26

Monday, 2/23/26 #Kimberbell Home Sewn April Tile 6, My Ironing Station, the Stitchuation Room
Becky had a whirlwind weekend of stitching tackling everything from finishing up the binding on her “Brightly sampler” quilt (4:51),

To making progress on her Things Above quilt for her son.

The roofs are done!

To working on block three on her “Prairie Days” blocks for members (9:03).

Becky’s working with Block Six of the Kimberbell Home Sewn Tiling Scene of the Month Digital Designs (11:11-12:12). She’s adding puffy foam for a “fat goose.” So cute! Two Chicks Quilting has the Kimberbell Home Sewn Fabric/Embellishment Kits. We watch as Becky works through the embroidery process. Tips and tricks along the way include trimming batting, understanding stitch and trim lines, and how she strategically skips trimming stops to save time! (31:00-50:27)

If you have been around for a while you have no doubt seen Becky’s incredible ironing station (24:25-30:00). She gives an inside peek into how it’s made.

Here is a detailed breakdown if you have a handy person who can build this for you:
Base: The base of her ironing station is an IKEA Hemnes dresser. Her husband built a custom wooden top for it which is 36 inches across, to hold a yard of fabric and wide enough to open a fat quarter. The board is not permanently attached and can be removed because (it’s too wide to get through a doorway). The top is made of “3/4 inch oak plywood.

The dresser underneath has plenty of storage space for fusible materials such as “hot fix,” and “505.”

Layers of the Ironing Board: Underneath the plywood, there are several layers
- A layer of Insulbrite which is a heat-resistant material
- A layer of vinyl for moisture protection for the wood
- A layer of 100% cotton batting
- Then the fabric on top
Becky’s station has been set up like this for years and stands the test of time!
Becky’s iron is a Saporro gravity-fed iron that gets extremely hot, which is why she has many layers. (28:26) The iron is connected to an Amazon smart plug, and she has set a routine for it to turn on each morning. A light above the iron is also connected, so “when the light is on, my iron is on. Safety, Safety,” as Becky says.
Grab some coffee and enjoy. Don’t forget to give her video a thumbs up and subscribe if you want to keep up with all her sewing adventures!
Tuesday
Stitch the Arkansas Traveler Block on the #CelebratingAmericaQAL, the Stitchuation Room, 2/24/26
This video is packed with valuable tips and product recommendations! Today is mid-week quilting where Becky tackles the intricate Arkansas Traveler Block from the Celebrate 250 quilt. But first Becky showed us the April KB Home Sewn Tiling Scene of the Month she is working on. It has a cute little 3D goose, but she added a bit of padding to his belly. Comical. (2:33).

There’s a lot to love about Becky’s Yazzii “four-pocket organizer” bag (3:54), (Use coupon code PTWT10 for 10% off) It’s perfect for organizing spools and other small items while traveling. It’s going with her to Florida this week for stashing spools of thread and keeping everything tidy—plus, it takes up barely any space in your suitcase (6:30)!

We watch as Becky works on the “Arkansas Traveler Block.” These are tiny blocks, so the tips and tricks offered are fantastic for achieving accuracy. Becky draws the stitch lines rather than relying on a quarter-inch seam from a center line, which improves precision. She also shows her method of chain piecing for efficiency and pressing seams to the dark side for a flat finish. She also shares a valuable tip for dealing with slightly off-sized pieces using the feed dogs on her straight stitch machine (30:26-1:12:09)

Although Becky doesn’t often emphasize one ruler over another, using the right tools for the “America 250” quilt along is important. She will be using these:
Creative Grids 1/4″ Seam Guide is highly recommended for accurate stitch lines, especially for half-square triangles.

3.5″ & 6.5″ Cute Cuts Trim It Rulers These rulers feature grippy backs and quarter-inch seam allowances, making them ideal for precise trimming of blocks. (12:40-22:44)

And speaking of must-haves, Becky’s husband, Keith, has been busy making his Seam Ripper/Stiletto combo in a new color: “cotton candy” pink seam rippers that are not only gorgeous but super functional with a stiletto on one end and the sharpest seam ripper in the industry on the other. These handmade beauties are flying off the shelves, so if you want one, you know what to do! They sold out during the program but check back as he plans on adding more.
Becky’s love for this community shines through it all!
Wednesday Becky is off to Orlando this week so there’s no live for Wednesday!
Thursday #Kimberbell Home Sewn April Tile 5, In a Guest Sewing Room, the Stitchuation Room, 26 Feb 26
Becky streamed from a friend’s sewing room! Talk about dedication to her ‘peeps!’
She stitched block five of theKB Home Sewn Tiling Scene of the Month April design, featuring an adorable umbrella and boots, because we all know, April showers bring boots and flowers! (6:02) Are you joining in on the fun? The KB Home Sewn Fabric/Embellishment Kits are available from 2 Chicks Quilting.

Becky demonstrates a “Picture Frame” Stitching (29:21), a technique in the KB Home Sewn series which outlines the fabric placement and tack down, creating a neat, double-line look. As with all the monthly KB Home Sewn Tiling Scene of the Month there’s super cute sewing machine in the window because what house is a home without a sewing machine and a happy stitcher?
By the way, did you see the Needle Minder? Making along, or not, this would look so cute in a sewing area!

Becky showed some Yazzii Bag Love! The Yazzii four-pouch organizer is perfect for keeping all her project bits and bobs in one spot. (Use coupon code PTWT10 for 10% off) (7:15)

Becky is traveling, so NO SHOW on Friday!
See you next week!
