Week in Review March 2-6, 2026

Monday, Assemble #Kimberbell Home Sewn Tiling Scene for April, the Stitchuation Room, 2 Mar 26

Hello stitchy friends! Becky’s back from Florida and had a great time teaching Snapplique in Maitland, Florida (8:09).

Big news on the thread horizon! When you’re stuck without a specific embroidery thread color, Threadsplash.com helps you find exact or super close matches for what you need. The site is free (FOR NOW) Give it a try, and if you have suggestions, they’re all ears. (24:27

Becky’s excited about a new quilt kit that has arrived. The Sunshine Lane by Bunny Hill Designs from the Fat Quarter Shop finishes at 57 by 72. These tend to sell out fast so if you’re interested, click the link in the description box! This is an applique quilt, not embroidery, but for her members she will be using it to convert it with her Snapplique method.(14:38)

If the America 250 quilt is a bit too intense for you, the Fat Quarter Shop also has a beautiful American Independence kit which includes a panel for easier assembly. It’s a lovely Americana option. (17:58)

Becky began assembling the six tiles for the April KB Home Sewn Tiling Scene of the Month Digital Designs. Don’t miss this because there are true gems of guidance in assembling tiled embroidery pieces! She gives great details about the edges of the tiling to aid in perfect seams as well. The kits are from Two Chicks Quilting.

Becky explains that the satin stitch changes a bit where it will be in the seam allowance. This broken part is intentional and is part of the design to ensure proper alignment during assembly. Her pinning technique ensures precision!

Wednesday Stitch the Cat’s Cradle Block on the #CelebratingAmericaQAL, the Stitchuation Room, 4 Mar 26

Hello, stitchers! It’s Wednesday, and we can MARCH 4th (Sorry, couldn’t resist) for a delightful dose of quilting wisdom in Becky’s “Stitchuation Room.” Today is Mid-week Quilting, so America 250 Quilt-Along, here we come!

We took a deep dive into the America 250 quilt-along  (2:02), sponsored by the Fat Quarter Shop. Click the Circle below for the Blog Post for Schedule & Fabric Selection.

Becky is on week three (2:20) and shared some of her fabric choices for the quilt, using the “American Gatherings 3” fabric line, which gives the quilt a beautiful, traditional feel. These fabrics just sing America the Beautiful. It’s not too late to jump in on this year long project. (15:49). She’ll be making these blocks every Weds morning.

The pattern is from the Celebrate With Quilts.

Mastering the Cat’s Cradle Block! Becky gives a step-by-step tutorial for the “Cat’s Cradle” block (18:00) and offers incredible tips for beginner block piecing. Becky shows how to draw precise stitch lines (25:21) if you don’t have a quarter-inch seam guide, although she strongly suggests the Creative Grids 1/4″ Seam Guide Ruler.

These will also help for future blocks. Truly: they will be a big help. The 3.5″ & 6.5″ Cute Cuts Trim It Rulers.

Make your blocks “just a tiny bit bigger” (28:29) and trim them down later for a perfect fit! I loved this advice, because my cutting skills are not up to par.

Seriously, this is a fantastic quilting lesson! Becky’s suggestion for getting the small pieces secured into a pouch where they won’t get frayed is gold! Here she shows her favorite zippered pouch from Yazzi. Use coupon code PTWT10 for 10% off .

Becky demonstrates drawing stitch lines (24:43) for precise piecing,

how to sew the pieces together (30:26),

trim them (31:47) and press the seams (36:00).

Becky also offers tips on using a friction marker for drawing lines. The video ends with the successful completion of the “Cat’s Cradle” block (1:06:45). AHHHH beautiful!

Are you a seasoned quilter or just starting your journey, or a person who does machine embroidery?  Becky’s “Stitchuation Room” is a must-visit for inspiration, learning, and a whole lot of friendly stitching! Let me know what your best take away tip is from this episode.

Thursday Threading the Brother PR1055/1060, DBJJ April Mini, the Stitchuation Rm, 5 Mar 26

Thursday’s video is a ‘must see’ to watch Becky thread her Brother PR1055X 10-needle from top to bottom. For today’s project, she dives into the April mini wall sampler quilt from Designs by Juju (2:31). Today, she’s focusing on the adorable little birdhouse block (2:45). She shares her process for preparing fabrics and threads, and even how she manages the 25 colors and 15 needles needed for the design on her 10-needle machine using a clever “road map” printout from Embrilliance embroidery software (7:24)! Whew, Go, Becky!

The Designs by Juju May Mini Sampler is ready for us to order! Those birds make me smile!

She highlights the importance of a color stop printout to plan your thread changes, especially when a design has more colors than your machine has needles (7:56). For that she uses the Embrilliance Software.

I finally know what this is for!  Your multi-needle machine comes with a Needle Changing Tool: for easily inserting and removing needles (15:26). Use it! I didn’t know what that was for, and now that I know, I don’t know where it is!

Titanium Needles are what Becky suggests and she got that direct from Debra Jones (RIP) herself. They are strong, so you only need to change them if they break (16:31).

The multi-needle machines require little to no babysitting, allowing you to prep for other projects or take a break while they stitch. More stitching! YAY!

All set and looking pretty!

What a fantastic intro to this machine!

The whole session is Becky at her best. Watch, hit like, Go Sew Something!

BONUS LIVESTREAMShow & Tell Quilt by Elizabeth Hartman, Pattern Prep, 5 Mar 26

This isn’t a Stitchuation Room episode. It’s for the Show and Tell Quilt Along.

Becky shares some invaluable tips for tackling Elizabeth Hartman’s adorable “Show & Tell” quilt. Its size (the large quilt is 75 by 85 inches!), can seem daunting but with proper organization, it becomes a joy to create.

Elizabeth Hartman uses a single block type repeated. This repetition, while seemingly simple, requires careful organization to manage the fabric pieces effectively.

Becky gives tips for Digital Pattern Users and Physical Pattern Users.

Becky’s Key to Sanity (20:54) Her tips for organizing the fabrics, are invaluable. She also points out the colorway consistency for each animal which is just brilliant designing. I hadn’t noticed!

The labeled kits from Two Chicks Quilting are out of stock so here’s a link to the Fat Quarter Shop so you can get one there.

By following these organizational tips in this live stream, you’ll find that creating Elizabeth Hartman’s “Show & Tell” quilt becomes a manageable and enjoyable process. Happy quilting!
