Sweet Kitty of Autumn New Layout Diagram

The pattern I showed on my YouTube video had a needed edit to the layout diagram. I contacted the designer, and she has edited the diagram to match the instructions. You can download that and print it at the end of this post.

It was late in the evening when I was piecing and I just decided to make it work so I cut another block under the upper leaf to make it fit like the diagram showed, and I trimmed down the piece above the upper leaf so that it fits.

So mine ended up going together like a standard nine patch. I contacted the owner of the quilt store where I had purchased the pattern and had seen the sample and she had done the same as I did. She thought she had made a cutting error.

Either way works, but here is the new diagram. Numbering the blocks 1-9, with 1-3 in the top row, 4-6 in the middle, and 7-9 in the bottom, stitch order is: 1 to 4, 2 to 3, 5 to 6, 2/3 to 5/6, sew 1/4 to the top rows. Sew the bottom row together 7-9. Sew the bottom row to the top two rows. Here’s the video where I explain this. Timestamp 9:39.

Here’s the correct block piecing diagram. Here is where you can see that the bottom seam of row 1 doesn’t align with the 2nd block. This is intentional.

It’s still an adorable wall hanging and I loved putting it together!

Thank you, Becky for sending us the correction. For a simple design, it sure looks complicated to me. Sandy
