Week in Review 4/14/25-4/18/25

Monday Weekend Stitching Recap, FQS Mystery Designer BOM, the Stitchuation Room, 4/14/25

Mondays can feel relaxing compared to weekends! This weekend I admitted to myself that I have more projects than time! I also give you an update on my 2024 Connecting Threads Mystery quilt. This is such a beauty of a quilt. This month’s block was the hugs and kisses block. I could see an entire quilt made with just this block.

Here are some of the blocks so far. That scotty dog is adorable!

I finished the Cinco de Mayo towel I had started last week. Now I need anothe sign that warns anyone not to get it grubby!

Week 18 of the Brightly Sampler is done! I demonstrate how to sew the Happy Dance Block. Along the way, I offer tips and tricks that help with any sewing project. So many tips! I hope you watch this video for the tips, even if you are not doing the Quilt A Long.

This is a quilt by Sherry and Chelsea from the family favorites book. When those points line up I do a happy dance indeed!

Tuesday Making Quilt Binding for Beginners, the Stitchuation Room, 4/15/25

Did you just groan when you read today’s program was about binding? I know it’s not everyone/s favorite part of a quilt but come along with me and see how I do it. If you have tips and tricks too, put them in the comments please!

Step one! Why do we find ironing so soothing?

I dive deep here, talking about binding! Some quilters do two-and-a-half-inch wide fabric, some two-and-a-quarter inch, some do one-and-three fourths. What camp are you in?

I have had Quilty friends wonder why some rulers have a half inch marked on the edge. Every wonder? Tune in. You will want to thank the woman who thought this up!

So how much binding do I need? Don’t lose sleep over this one! I show you how to figure it out with a handy dandy calculator. There are apps and website too. Cue the dance music!

There are good fabric cutting tips, and best tips. I tell you my best tips.

Now for the fun part, sewing the strips. Accuracy is really important! I show you my best tips.

Perfect diagonal seams!

My Binding Eaze – Coral by Quilted Heartz, makes ironing easy and keeps the long runs of fabric tidy.
