DBJJ Christmas Tree Skirt Block Tracker

Have you seen the new DBJJ Christmas Tree Skirt? This thing is GORGEOUS! I had so much fun making this adorable North Pole village tree skirt! You can get the pattern here. https://designsbyjuju.com

If you’re making the Designs by JuJu Christmas Tree Skirt, you might find it helpful to keep on track of all 45 parts and pieces using this free downloadable handy Tree Skirt Block Tracker. When I started, I didn’t use this but I found I was forced to make it up as I went along so I’m happy to share it with you!

The inner blocks 1-8 are all different but there are 7 multiples of block #9. Then on the outer blocks, there are 7 multiples of the first block and 8 multiples of the second. It can get kind of crazy as these stack up and you find yourself continually sorting through them to see what’s been done and what there is still to do.

Here is a list of fabrics I used and recommended fabrics if you can’t locate my exact ones. RebsFabStash is putting together fabric kits and should have them ready by the end of Aug 2022. I’ll announce on the PTWT FB group and in a video when they are available for sale

Here is Part 1 of a how-to video where I cover considerations for the pattern make, fabric prep, fabric conservation, and block finishing. I cover block construction and skirt finishing in Part 2.

In this video, I’ll show you how to add a backing, get gorgeous flat blocks with a clean pressed edge finish, and we’ll add the bias tape binding. Enjoy!

Your tree skirt is absolutely gorgeous!!! You do such beautiful work… I just purchased the pattern and I will be working on this also. I am sure I will be referring to your videos quite a bit.

Becky, I absolutely love watching your videos. You always do an excellent job explaining exactly what needs to be required to get the job done. I have made so many of the potholders as gifts and they have always been appreciated. Thanks for all that you do to share with other crafters.

  6. Patti says:

    Becky,
What type of batting did you use? I’m so excited to start this tree skirt… it’s lovely!!

  7. Sharon Farrell says:

Do you have a list of items you mentioned in the video. The name of the cutter and your iron. Thank you. Got design can’t wait to start it.

  8. Cyndi Farnham says:

I was so impressed with your video and your fabrics but can’t find your list of fabrics you used.
Can you give me a clue where to look please?

    • Thanks for the idea! They were located under the videos in the Description Box on YouTube, but I’ve updated this post to include them too. RebsFabStash is coming out with a kit by the end of August so stay tuned! Thank you!

      • Cindy Craigen says:

Hi, Becky – always, ALWAYS love learning from you!! Thanks for another wonderful tutorial! The RebsFabStash kit – will that be the same fabrics that you used in this tutorial? I love it EXACTLY the way you did it – and will usually go in to “analysis paralysis” when trying to pick out THIS many applique fabrics by my onezies!! Don’t know if I can wait until the end of August to start (but it is already the 5th – and my second granddaughter is due on the 12th – so I might have some distractions!!) Thank you for blessing us all with your talent and uplifting spirit!

  9. Jerri L. Estep says:

The links to the fabrics are not working for me in this post or in the videos.

  10. Sharon says:

What batting do you use? I’m waiting for the fabrics to be sold!!

I probably totally missed it but what size hop did you use?

  12. Sharon says:

Hi I am unable to open the videos about the Juju tree skirt. Only shows a black rectangle. Can you help? Thanks!

  13. Linda McIntyre says:

You mentioned paper tape. Please tell me where you bought that

  14. Susan (Coleman)-Billiau says:

can the scan n cut work with a 4 needle Janome embroidery maching?

  15. Nancee Pyper says:

I love this project and am working on it currently. Anyone else having problems with needles breaking while doing the middle village blocks? I’m working on the post office now and have gone through many needles as it is trying to do the windows. Help

    • Cindy Craigen says:

I have not done the post office block yet – but will start it this AM and see how it goes for me. I haven’t broke any needles yet (probably shouldn’t have said that out-loud until I am all done!! HA!) – have completed all inner blocks, 8 middle blocks and one outer block at this point. Have you tried really slowing down your machine on the “stitch-rich” windows? That might help – and is usually the first thing I try after all of the “usual suspects” are in working order (thread and bobbin are behaving properly).

      • Nancee Pyper says:

Thank you for your suggestion! I had slowed it way down, but not all the way. I tried and was able to finally get it completed without breaking any more needles. Hopefully yours went smoothly today as well! đŸ™‚

  16. Judy K McGinnis says:

i just finished this tree skirt and it’s gorgeous! the tutorial made it soooo easy to finish..thank you so much!!

  17. Barbara Guthrie says:

Hi Becky first let me say I am so happy to have found you. Your a joy to watch, and your videos are so easy to follow. Now to my question.
I recently puchased DBJUJU Christmas tree skirt. I have a scan n cut but poor internet service (rural) it is hard to connect to canvas work space. Can you do a video on how use embrillance to cut my applique files and save then to usb.
I really want to make this skirt and you made it look so easy I followed you instructions for embrillance but could not save to my usb embrillanc only saves embrodery filed. Your assitantace would be greatly appreciated
    Than you in advance
    barara

  18. Susan E Schwartz says:

You cut notched in the outer part of the skirt, why didn’t you cut corresponding notches in the backing for the same reason (to give it room when turned). This could be done after the backing is sewn to the skirt.

  19. Sue Dodgen says:

Is there a list of Isacord thread colors? I have a lot of other brands of embroidery thread that I have had a long time but I want to replace the colors that I need for the tree skirt with the Isacord thread colors.
Your tree skirt is so beautiful. I love watching your videos. You make everything so easy for all levels of sewers and quilters. I have a 15 needle machine and can’t wait to get started on the tree skirt and then on to the Nativity tree skirt.
I have been sewing for 70 years and I learn something every time I watch your videos. Thank you, Sue
