The Quilted Snowman QAL #MerryHomeTownChristmas by Lori Holt, February 2025

My Quilted Snowman is keeping me busy, but I’d still rather build him with fabric than with snow any day. His chubby body in that little wagon gives me a chuckle every time I look at the pattern. We are all so mobile these days, so I guess he may as well be too!

The QAL with the Fat Quarter Shop began in January 2025 and runs until November. This 87.5″ x 97.5″  quilt will be a stunning decoration for the holiday season, and right through until next spring! I thoroughly enjoy Lori Holt’s whimsy reflected in this quilt, and her creative ability to build a picture with cloth.

The schedule suggests two block types each month which is so doable, even if you’re like me and have many quilts in progress.

The fabric line I am using is the Home-Town Holiday fabric collection by Lori Holt.

The saturated colors against the sepia tones give this fresh-looking quilt a touch of nostalgia. And while I’ve lamented on the channel about the directional background fabric and initially a few unladylike words crossed my mind, I realized in the end it won’t matter after seeing this quilt at Road2California in January. Unless you’re close enough for an Eskimo kiss with Mr. Snowman, the directional fabric is invisible. HOW CUTE IS THIS??? Absolutely none of the pictures I’ve seen come close to doing it justice.

For February, we needed to make up two Glimmering Snowflake blocks.

Also we needed to make up three Glitter Star blocks. As you can see, January and February are ‘homework’ to prep for other larger blocks in the quilt. There are two of January’s Snowflake blocks hanging out with a February Glitter Star. Isn’t it nice how everyone gets along and plays so nice with each other?
