Assemble the #DBJJ May Mini Quilt, Weekend Stitching Update, the Stitchuation Room, 4/20/26
Today, Becky updates us on some of her current sewing and embroidery projects and offers her best tips for staying organized and managing complex embroidery quilts.
Hen House Snapplique’ (1:53): Becky has completed editing the second part of her Hen House Snaplique series. Cute Chicken!

Kimberbell Sippin’ on Sunshine (4:22): The past weekend was dedicated to five hours of cutting and organizing fabrics for the Sippin’ on Sunshine quilt. Using stackable trays and labeling sections, she ensures the project remains manageable and avoids the dreaded UFO (Unfinished Object) pile. I sometimes store these projects that I don’t organize in the closet of shame. Becky shows us how to be the boss of the project. She plans to begin this project next Monday.

DBJJ Monthly House Mini Quilt (13:05): Becky shares her assembly process for this adorable project. Fusible woven (SF101) on the back of fabrics will avoid puckering in embroidery designs.

Glide Thread (57:15): As Kimberbell continues to standardize the use of Glide thread, Becky notes its popularity and durability. Two Chicks Quilting will soon be carrying full sets, though she advises keeping an eye out for potential industry-wide price increases starting in May. Ouch!

Stitch Your Sewing Room Banner Borders, the Stitchuation Room, 4/21/26
Becky proves that even experienced stitchers can face a challenge. (1:55) Becky discussed her experience with the Designs by Juju (DBJJ) monthly house mini quilt project, specifically addressing a sizing issue she encountered with the May block. She noticed the block did not align properly with the other tiles! By re-stitching the May block with SF101 on the back of the background fabric, the stitch lines matched perfectly with the other segments
The problem wasn’t the design file itself, but that she had neglected to back that specific piece with SF101.
Redo!

For tiling projects, it is crucial to prepare all background fabric pieces exactly the same way. The heavy satin stitching on the block caused the fabric to pull in, and without the proper interfacing, the block shrunk. Second time, perfect seam line alignment.

Kimberbell Applique of the Month Becky loves this subscription specifically showcasing the April design, which is a table runner (9:18). The kit includes everything needed, so they are a pleasure to do.

Stitch Your Sewing Room Embroidery Stitch a Long If you’ve been feeling a bit lost with the banner borders, Becky cleared up the confusion. (12:00) She emphasizes the importance of labeling every piece (sashing and cornerstones) before starting to ensure the correct embroidery designs are matched with their corresponding sections.

Becky demonstrates how to color sort your designs in Embrilliance (44:00). This allows you to stitch multiple pieces in a single hoop—a real time-saver for larger projects!
She offers excellent Interfacing advice, tips on assembling the borders, and how to color sort multiple units.
Happy sewing, and remember—if you don’t cut a piece of fabric wrong at least once, are you really a stitcher?!

Isn’t she LOVELY?? Go here for the Blog Post for Schedule & Fabric Selection

The pattern is from the Celebrate Quilts Pattern book . You will need the book, but it’s beautifully done, and looks pretty on a coffee table!
Embrilliance Love: If you’re looking for user-friendly embroidery software, Becky highly recommends Embrilliance. I love their moto: Embroidery for the rest of us. Yep, that’s me.

Remember what Becky said, “When you do something right, give yourself a pat on the back!” Grab some coffee and enjoy the replay.
How to Color Sort on the Brother Luminaire, Stitch My Sewing Room Borders, TSR, 4/23/26
Ever feel like you’re spending more time switching thread spools than actually stitching? We’ve all been there! In our latest Stitchuation session, Becky from Power Tools with Thread shows us a total game-changer for embroidery enthusiasts: Color Sorting.
You will need Embrilliance Essentials. Click the image below to go there now.

Instead of letting your machine jump back and forth between different colors for every single element, color sorting allows you to group all your placement lines and tack-downs together. This means efficiency, faster and smoother Workflow
Happy stitching, everyone!

Quilt with Me! Show & Tell Quilt, the Heart Block. Bonus live
Becky tackles the Elizabeth Hartman’s Show & Tell heart block, a journey of ups, downs, and a few “oops” moments that reminds us why pressing is our love language.

The Thread Debate (9:33): I’ve officially become a convert to 50-weight So Fine thread. It’s low-lint, super strong, and because it’s a thinner weight, it makes those “sew-and-flip” corners lay much flatter. So Fine! 50 wt Thread is 30% off! Stock up. Your points will thank you!

Ready to start your own Show & Tell quilt? Head over to the Fat Quarter Shop or and Etsy to grab your pattern. And if you’re looking to dip your toes into machine embroidery, don’t forget to use the code SPACEACE for 10% off at Embrilliance through 4/29!
Not quite finished but just feast your eyes on those points!

Here it is in the quilt.

Declutter my Cutting Table Cubbies! The Stitchuation Room, 4/24/26
Oh, fellow stitchers, take my advice! Grab some hot tea or coffee, curl up on a couch, and enjoy this live stream! Becky declutters, and it’s so fun to watch someone else do that. It inspires me, for sure.

I planned to replay this livestream as I dragged forgotten boxes out of a corner. There’s something about decluttering with company, and Becky’s good company, am I right? Full disclosure, the boxes are still in the corner because I ate ice-cream as I re-watched. Think of it as de-stashing my freezer. LOL
So let me know, did Becky inspire you to clean out, toss out, donate, or put things back onto the ‘to do’ pile? If you won’t use what you find, purge! Our space is finite. Besides, when we purge it makes room for more goodies!
Thanks for catching up! See you next week!
