Week in Review July 20-24, 2026

Hello Stitchers! Before we review the week, did you catch Becky’s video from Sunday It’s a delightful visit with Susan Blair, who gives an in depth tutorial of Stripology Rulers, Book & Patterns . Prepare to giggle and be informed as well!

Unboxing the Brother Aveneer! The Stitchuation Room, 7/20/26 Saturday Monday

OH. Monday, Monday!! We were introduced to Becky’s New Aveneer, hereafter referred to as Boudreaux (friend, homey, powerful). But yikes, this is a two-man job to unbox, so Keith to the rescue to help unpack the massive machine and accessories.

Becky bought the machine at Mulqueen’s Sewing, in Mesa, AZ, but for those of us not local, Mulqueen’s also has a sewing e-commerce shopping option at https://threadworks.com . When you check them out, tell them Becky at PTWT ‘sent you.’

Boudreaux sports a single-hole needle plate that pops off with the press of a button (WOW,) (37:51) and the multi-function foot controller which allows for programmable settings like thread cutting and reverse stitching (26:17). WHAT? Old news to you frequent flyers with the higher-end Brother / Baby Lock machines, but for the rest of us? This is AMAZING!

It feels like a birthday party in the Stitchuation today!

Fabric Prep Kimberbell Autumn Acres Bench Pillow, Brother EV-1 Update, Stitchuation Room, 7/21/26 Tuesday

Becky has project preparations in The Stitchution Room. She also demonstrates how she uses the Brother Artspira app to transfer designs wirelessly (6:31).

Even if you don’t feel like a ‘techie,” the discussion is all good!

Hello, Boudreaux!

Isn’t he handsome? He fits perfectly on Becky’s 48″ FlexiSpot standing desk.

Today Becky preps the fabric for the Kimberbell Autumn Acres Bench Pillow. She explains her process of marking, cutting, and applying fusible SF 101 interfacing efficiently to conserve materials (10:34). This was gold to me, as I tend to get a bit slap happy cutting fabric and have a LOT of fabric in a scrap pile. The pattern is available from Kimberbell and the fabric kits are from 2 Chicks Quilting.

It’s a pretty pillow. I like the openness of it. It says autumn, but not the dark days of autumn; the pretty days of fall when the days are cooler, and a stop at the cider stand is a treat coming back from apple picking.

Becky is using the Autumn Acres Background Quilting bundle. Those rows of flowers! How cute would they be on a pillow?

Enjoy!

Stitch the Texas Puzzle Block,
#CelebratingAmericaQAL, the Stitchuation Room, 22 Jul 26 Wednesday

America 250 QAL

Becky gives us a step-by-step guide to sewing the “Texas Puzzle” block for the America 250 QAL (18:07): This is a super pretty one!

Becky demonstrates assembly line sewing and how to nest seam allowances effectively for a professional finish (28:45). This system is fantastic. Marking this video for my future reference.

Becky uses the Stripology Squared Mini ruler as a helpful tool for squaring blocks to size (34:45). Have you tried them? I confess they looked intimidating to me, but the tutorial makes it look like a great tool.

The finished block (58:45)!

DBJJ Poinsettia Tree Skirt

Are you planning to do the DBJJ Poinsettia Tree Skirt with Becky? The Fabric Kit Pre-order is available here. The design is available here. DBJJ Pointsettia Tree Skirt Embroidery Design. So pretty.

The Stocking Stuffers BOM Quilt

Becky’s got three stockings done.

This repeating pattern will be easier if you ‘assembly line’ the pieces as Becky shows us. Have you taken a look? Christmas in July anyone? Becky has three done, but there is plenty of time to catch up.

“Not So Spooky” Table Runner

It’s not too early to think about pumpkins spice is it? This table runner will look great on anyone’s table!

Kits are available at Two Chicks Quilting for upcoming projects (37:30).

Ready, set, replay!

#Kimberbell Autumn Acres, Manage Computer Embroidery Files, the Stitchuation Room, 7/23/26 Thursday

Today Becky chats about her system for workflow. Just be aware for starters, it may involve Stitch First, Coffee Second? Yikes. I draw the line there, although I see the logic!

Rather than piling fabric into one giant “I’ll-sort-it-later” stack (we’ve all been there!). Becky organizes each section in EZStax trays. Every piece is labeled in pencil, so she always knows which block it belongs to. (2:51).It’s a simple trick that can save hours of second-guessing later—and it keeps those tiny pieces from mysteriously disappearing into the sewing room abyss.

A Computer That’s as Organized as the Sewing Room

Are your downloads folder the embroidery equivalent of a junk drawer? This might inspire you! Don’t have wireless capability? No worries. Becky also gives viewers a peek at the folder system she uses on her computer. Her embroidery files are neatly organized by designer or subject, making it easy to find exactly what she needs without endless searching.

Becky transfers files using through the classic USB method, showing exactly how to transfer designs to a multi-needle machine step by step. Whether you’re high-tech or happily old-school, she’s got you covered.

Have you been to the PTWT Amazon Shop lately? Becky has a host of things she uses and recommends. She would not recommend what she would not use. Using her link gives her a small commission at no cost to you and helps her channel grow. Thanks!

Becky dives into the adorable Kimberbell Autumn Acres Bench Pillow, sharing how she prepares each block before a single stitch is sewn.

The kit is available here. To get the design, use this link.

Becky is also using Autumn Acres Background Quilting and there is lots to choose from!

Get comfy, and enjoy the visit.

#Kimberbell Autumn Acres, Cider Stand, the Stitchuation Room, 7/24/26 Friday

Becky thinks highly of the Karen K Buckley Perfect Scissors. Perfectly serrated scissors, they allow clean, precise trimming (39:35). They are available through her Amazon shop.

We hope you can enjoy some sewing time this weekend!
